Week 26   Day 4

The salvation of God

            is never

            once and done

God's salvation is daily

            even minute by minute

Therefore praising God

            with joy and thanksgiving

and pleading with God

            to hear my prayer

            and come to my aid--

these seeming opposites

            come

            back to back

            each day

            at any moment

It is not odd

Rather it is the natural rhythm

            of our lives

God lifts me up

            yet I always need lifting

God saves me

            yet I am always in need

            of God's salvation.

PRAISING!  PLEADING!  IT'S THE RHYTHM OF THE PSALMS
               I will wait patiently (but not quietly) for the Lord.
                                           Psalms 34 & 40

     1 I will bless the Lord at all times;

His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

3Magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together.

     4 I sought the Lord, and He delivered me from all my fears.

7The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him,

And delivers them.  8Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good.

     11Come, you children, I will teach you the fear of the Lord.

12Who is the man who desires life, and loves many days?

13Keep your tongue from evil, and from speaking deceit.

14Depart from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.

     19Many are the afflictions of the righteous,

But the Lord delivers him out of them all.

     1 I waited patiently for the Lord; He inclined to me,

And heard my cry.  2He also brought me up

Out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay.

He set my feet upon a rock and established my steps.

3He has put a new song in my mouth--Praise to our God;

Many will see it and will trust in the Lord.

     4Blessed is that man who makes the Lord his trust,

And does not respect the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

5Many, O Lord my God, are Your wonderful works;

And Your thoughts toward us cannot be recounted to You;

If I would declare them, they are more than can be numbered.

     9 I have proclaimed the good news of righteousness;

Indeed I do not restrain my lips in the great assembly,

O Lord, You Yourself know.

10 I have not hidden Your righteousness within my heart;

I have declared Your faithfulness and Your salvation;

I have not concealed Your loving kindness and Your truth.

     11Do not withhold Your tender mercies from me, O Lord;

Let Your loving kindness and Your truth preserve me,

12For innumerable evils have surrounded me;

My iniquities have overtaken me, I am not able to look up;

They are more than the hairs of my head; my heart fails me.

     13Be pleased, to deliver me; O Lord, make haste to help me!

16Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You;

And say continually, "The Lord be magnified!"

17 I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinks upon me.

You are my help and my deliverer; do not delay, O my God.
