Week 26   Day 3

It is blessed to be forgiven--

            no barriers between

            myself and God

Please take me back

My heart is broken

            my sins make me sick

            and fill me with disgust

Cleanse me

            for I confess my sin

Create a new heart for me

            with clean thoughts

            and right desires

Restore me

            to the God who loves me

            to the joy of my salvation

Happy is the one who is forgiven.

                          THE BROKENNESS OF SIN
        Confess the sin.  Be healed and washed clean.
                                     Psalms 32 & 51

     1Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven,

Whose sin is covered, 2and the Lord does not impute iniquity,

And in whose spirit there is no deceit.

     3When I kept silent, my bones grew old

Through my groaning all the day long.

4For day and night your hand was heavy upon me;

My vitality was turned into the drought of summer.

5 I acknowledged my sin, and my iniquity I have not hidden.

I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the Lord."

And You forgave the iniquity of my sin.

     6The godly shall pray to You in a time You may be found.

7You are my hiding place; You preserve me from trouble,

You surround me with songs of deliverance.

     1Have mercy upon me, O God, according to your lovingkindness;

The multitude of Your tender mercies blot out my transgressions.

2Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me.

     3 I acknowledge my transgressions; my sin is before me.

4Against You, You only, have I sinned,

And done this evil in Your sight--

You are just when You speak; and blameless when You judge.

5 I was brought forth in iniquity; in sin my mother conceived me.

6Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts,

And in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom.

     7Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean;

Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

8Make me hear joy and gladness,

That the bones You have broken may rejoice.

9Hide Your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities.

     10Create in me a clean heart, O God,

And renew a steadfast spirit within me.

11Do not cast me away from Your presence,

And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.

     12Restore to me the joy of Your salvation,

And uphold me by Your generous Spirit.

15Open my lips, and my mouth shall show forth Your praise.

16You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it;

You do not delight in burnt offering.

17The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit,

A broken and contrite heart--these, O God, You will not despise.
