Week 25   Day 7

This is how life should be  (as in yesterday's reading)

This is how life is  (as in today's reading)

Why is life not as it should be?

The Psalmist would

            question

            plead

            agonize

but he always seemed to end up
            with
a faith statement

Faith statements express the heart's desire

            to believe in a God who

                        sees

                        cares and

                        acts on our behalf

Watch for faith statements as you read.

Why is there trouble?

Why do I have trouble?

Why does God hide while I have trouble?

In the midst of trouble

            deep in his heart

            the psalmist knew
            that
God would deliver him

It has not happened yet but it will

Therefore wait patiently

The words that he spoke yesterday

            are not the words

            expressed today

But that is how life is

Nevertheless God will hear me

            and someday I will rejoice.

                         TEARS OF PAIN AND SORROW
                The Lord answered my prayers in the past,

                               surely He hears me now.
                                  Psalms 6, 10, 12 & 13

     1Lord, do not rebuke me nor chasten me in Your anger.

2Have mercy on me, I am weak; heal me, my bones are troubled.

3My soul also is greatly troubled; O Lord--how long?

     4Return,O Lord, save me for Your mercies' sake!

5For in death there is no remembrance of You;

In the grave who will give You thanks?

     6 I am weary with my groaning all night;

I drench my couch with my tears.

7My eye wastes away because of my grief and my enemies.

     8Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity;

For the Lord has heard the voice of my weeping.

9The Lord has heard; the Lord will receive my prayer.

10Let all my enemies be ashamed; let them turn back.

     1Why do You stand afar off, O Lord?  Why do You hide?

2The wicked in his pride persecutes the poor;

Let them be caught in the plots which they have devised.

     3For the wicked boasts of his heart's desire;

He blesses the greedy and renounces the Lord.

4The wicked does not seek God in any of his thoughts.

     8 In the secret places he murders the innocent;

His eyes are secretly fixed on the helpless.  9He lies in wait,

As a lion in his den; he lies in wait to catch the poor.

11He has said, "God has forgotten; He will never see."

     12Arise, O Lord!  Lift up Your hand!  Do not forget the humble.

17Lord, You have heard.  You will cause Your ear to hear,

To do justice to the fatherless, that man may oppress no more.

     1Help, Lord, for the godly man ceases!  The faithful disappear.

2They speak idly everyone with his neighbor;

With flattering lips and a double heart they speak.

     1How long, O Lord?  Will you forget me forever and hide?

2Shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily?

How long will my enemy be exalted over me?

     3Consider and hear me, O Lord my God; enlighten my eyes,

Lest I sleep the sleep of death;  4lest my enemy say,

"I have prevailed against him", lest those who trouble me rejoice.

5 I have trusted in Your mercy; my heart shall rejoice in salvation.

6 I will sing to the Lord; He has dealt bountifully with me.
