Now Joseph had a dream and told it to his brothers;
    and
they hated him even more.
He said, "Please hear this dream

    There we were, binding sheaves in the field.

    Then behold, my sheaf arose and stood upright;
        while
your sheaves stood all around
        and bowed down to my sheaf."

. . . Israel said to Joseph,
    "Are not your brothers feeding the
flock in Shechem?
    Come, I will send you to them."

When
they saw him afar off, even before he came near,
    they said to one another,
    "Look, this dreamer is coming!
    Come therefore, let us kill him
        and cast him into some pit.
    We shall say,
       'Some wild beast has devoured him.'
    We shall see what will become of his dreams!
"
