Week 46   Day 1

            grace

such a beautiful and lovely word

                        meaning

                                    the unmerited favor of God

                                    that God loves us

                                    not because of

                                                anything we have done

                                                a goal we have accomplished

or a merit we have earned

that God simply and profoundly loves us

even before we ever knew him

even on our very worst days

                                                even to our last breath

that God is something like a divine parent

who loves us in every way

                                                accepting

                                                blessing

                                                calming

                                                delivering

                                                enjoying

                                                freeing

                                                guiding

                                                and much more

            grace

                        "greater than all our sins"

greater than all we can fathom or imagine

            grace

                        in the world

                        in our hearts

                        thanks be to God

                    TURNING AWAY FROM THE GOSPEL

It's Jesus alone who saves you, not Jesus and the law.

                                      Galatians 1, 2 & 3

1Paul, an apostle (not from men nor through man, but through

Jesus Christ and God the Father who raised Him from the dead),

2and all the brethren who are with me.  To the churches of Galatia:

3Grace to you and peace from our Lord Jesus Christ, 4who gave

Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present

evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, 5to whom

be glory forever and ever.  Amen.

6 I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who

called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, 7which

is not another, but there are some who trouble you and want to

pervert the gospel of Christ.  9So now I say, if anyone preaches

any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him

be accursed.

18For I died to the law that I might live to God.  20 I have

been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ

lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by

faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for

me.  21 I do not set aside the grace of God; if righteousness

comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.

1 O foolish Galatians!  Who has bewitched you that you should

not obey the truth?  2This only I want to learn from you:  Did

you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing

of faith?  3Are you so foolish?   Having begun in the Spirit, are

you now being made perfect by the flesh?  4Have you suffered

so many things in vain--if indeed it was in vain?

6Abraham "believed God, and it was accounted to him for
righteousness," 7therefore know that only those who
are of faith
are children of Abraham.

19What purpose then does the law serve?  It was added

because of transgressions.  23Before faith came, we were

kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would

afterward be revealed.  24Therefore the law was our tutor to

bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.  25But

after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.

26You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

27As many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on
Christ.  28There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither

slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; you are

all one in Christ Jesus.  29And if you are Christ's, then you

are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
