Week 46   Day 4

Gracious God,

Your word reminds us that we are Your workmanship

                                                                      Your work of art,

created in Christ Jesus to live the good life as he had meant it.

We often do not see ourselves as works of art,

for the picture that is our life, is often

                        lacking in beauty,

                        filled with flaws,

                        scarred by sins,

                        cluttered with things,

                        needing focus,

                        broken and fragmented,

                        inadequate and incomplete.

            Yet your word reminds us

that we are your work of art

            created in Christ Jesus.

What is it that you see in us that we do not see?

What is it that we are missing?

            Surely it is more than

                        beauty, for it fades;

                        intellect, for others are smarter;

strength, for it is fragile and easily broken

What makes us a work of art, is that we belong to You.

You claim us, and we belong to you in Jesus.  Amen.

God is able to do much more than we can ever imagine!

                                     Ephesians 1, 2 & 3

3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in heavenly

places in Christ.  4Just as God chose us in Him before the

foundation of the world that we should be holy and without

blame before Him in love, 5so He predestined us to adoption

as God's children by Jesus Christ, according to the good

pleasure of His will and 6to the praise of the glory of His grace,

by which He made us accepted and beloved.

7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the

forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace

8which He made to abound toward us.

13 In Him you trusted after you heard the gospel of your

salvation; having believed, you were sealed with the Holy

Spirit of promise, 14who is the guarantee of our inheritance.

1You He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins,

2in which you once walked.  4But God, who is rich in mercy,

because of His great love with which He loved us, 5even

when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together
with
Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6raised us up,
and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,

7that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches

of His grace in His kindness toward us.

8By grace you have been saved through faith, and not of

yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9not of works, lest anyone

should boast.  10We are His workmanship, created in Christ
Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that
we
should walk in them.

14For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord

Jesus, 16that He would grant you, according to the riches of

His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit

in the inner man, 17that Christ may dwell in your hearts through

faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18may be

able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and

length and depth and height--19to know the love of Christ

which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the

fullness of God.

20Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly

above all that we ask or think, according to the power that

works in us, 21to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus

to all generations, forever and ever.  Amen.
